Why Anti-Failure?

Our concept of anti-failure came out of the curious idea of anti-fragility. Coined by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, anti-fragility refers to the ability of a system or entity to not only withstand stress and uncertainty but to actually thrive and grow stronger as a result of it. This is in stark contrast to something that is merely resilient, which can withstand stress (to a point) but does not necessarily benefit from it.

Anti-failure applies a similar philosophy to business. In understanding the interdependent relationship between failure and success within a business context, we can cultivate a better environment for growth and success. For a business to succeed, it (along with owners and management) must be willing to take risks, experiment, and embrace failure as a learning opportunity. By doing so, they become anti-fail. Able to not only survive but to thrive in the face of uncertainty and adversity.
